Philanthropy: An Important Part of Campus Life

Give 5 Take 5During a campus wide effort to reinvigorate the homecoming tradition, this year the Annual Giving Program has teamed up with many campus student groups, students, alumni, faculty, staff and other campus representatives in order to honor two of our distinguished Double Ducks, Mary Hudzikiewiczs '63 M.S. '71 and Lorraine Davis Ph.D. '72. The Mary Hudzikiewiczs award goes to a deserving freshman who has exhibited interest in campus service and the Lorraine Davis Scholarship goes to a graduate student with service oriented interests. As always, anyone can give to any fund they would like.

During this initiative, we’re asking that everyone “give 5 and take 5.” This means that the power of 5 is strong; whether it’s giving $5 a month, which can pay for a students text book or giving $500, which could pay for half of an annual scholarship. No matter how you “give 5,” the impact can be felt campus wide. As everyone is giving fives all around, we want to recognize this by letting donors take 5. What this means, is for everyone who gives 5 will be entered to win some fantastic prizes, ranging from 5 sessions with a personal trainer at the Student Recreation Center to $100 worth of campus cash.

We ask that you join this campus wide effort to show that charity really does start at home, and Give Five! If you’d like to join in giving five, please visit www.isupport.uoregon.edu.
