The University of Oregon will be prominently showcased in the Eugene 08 festival grounds during the Olympic Trials from June 27-July 6. Located at the festival entrance at 15th and Agate St., the UO interactive booth will be the University’s public face to athletes, families and coaches, along with media, fans, friends and visitors. The goal of the large booth is to encourage visitors to explore campus and its many offerings by showcasing daily offerings and hidden gems on campus waiting for them during breaks in the competition schedule.
Knowledgeable UO personnel from Admissions, Student Orientation, the Alumni Association, PGA and the Duck Store will staff the booth during the 10-day event to answer questions, highlight world-class students and faculty, encourage visitors to participate in a scavenger hunt game, and snap keepsake photos in a 3D scene of Hayward Field.
In cooperation with the Eugene 08 Local Organizing Committee regarding sustainability and litter concerns, flyers and brochures will not be distributed from the UO booth. As an alternative, UO is teaming up with the Oregon Daily Emerald to use the newspaper as the primary resource for communicating UO activities and events during the Trials. The ODE will be distributed daily from the booth as its exclusive distribution point within the festival grounds. The ODE staff plan to cover all aspects of the Olympic Trials and members of the UO community are encouraged to provide story information regarding events and activities to the ODE and/or to invest in advertising.
