University of Oregon's Women's Volleyball Team
Puts Oregon on the National Map

Volleyball

In a perfect storm that combines a  record-breaking 2007 season, returning starter players, stand-out freshman additions, and nationally recognized coaches, University of Oregon's women's volleyball team is the best it’s been in nearly two decades. The team has put Oregon on the map as one of the toughest women's volleyball teams to beat. At the end of September, CBS College Sports Network and the AVCA Coaches Poll voted to give UO the Number 11 spot, their season-high ranking. Overall the Ducks have been ranked in the top 15 for the last ten consecutive polls, anchoring their position as one of the best teams in the nation.

On October 3rd they will be challenging the Number 4 ranked UCLA team and Saturday, October 4, they will face the No. 5 ranked USC team. Both matches are scheduled for 7:00 pm in McArthur Court. Last year UO beat both of these top-ten, Los Angeles teams in consecutive matches, and the Ducks are looking to repeat that delightful upset this weekend. Saturday's match against the Trojans features a “Spike for a Cure” event to support breast cancer research; fans are encouraged to wear pink, donate for the opportunity to win prizes and make a pledge for each kill that the UO makes against USC. The proceeds from this event will benefit the Willamette Valley Cancer Center Foundation.
