The 2008 Homecoming Service Drive will bring awareness and fundraising to Fanconi anemia (FA) as well as register new donors to the National Marrow Donor Program registry. UO President Dave Frohnmayer and his wife Lynn, founded the FA Family Support Group in 1985 and helped incorporate the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, Inc., a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation, in order to further scientific research.

The bone marrow registry tent will be set up Thursday, October 9th and Friday, October 10th in the EMU courtyard at the UO. Registering to become a marrow donor is easy: you will complete a one-page registration form, and sign a donor consent form. Then a collection of cheek cells using a cotton-tipped swab is taken and sent to a lab to be tested to determine your tissue type. Your data is then entered into the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) registry in anonymous form, so doctors can search for a donor for their patient(s).
Enter to WIN!
Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the HCFW information table in the EMU courtyard, at the Pep Rally, at the bone marrow registry tent, and at the Tailgate Party. Stop by the information table to see the fabulous prizes available.
