George and Molly Spencer |
 Each year, the Portland Chapter of the University of Oregon Alumni Association recognizes an outstanding alumnus in the Portland area with the Portland Alumni Spotlight award. This year the event honoring George and Molly Spencer will be held at The Benson Hotel on June 2 and will include a special performance by Maria Jette, an Oregon Bach Festival favorite.

| AAA Talks Careers in The Pearl |
 On May 5, the School of Architecture and Allied Arts held its second annual Career Symposium at the Ecotrust Building in NW Portland’s Pearl District. More than 100 students and 40 professionals gathered to review portfolios, practice interviews, and attend panels. Topics focused on The Business of Art, Seeking Non-Traditional Career Paths, Making International Connections, Basic Job Search Skills, and Working Toward Non-Profit and Government Jobs.

Senior Director Named |
 Mary Stanik, former spokesperson for Northwest Airlines, started work as the University of Oregon’s new senior director of public and media relations on May 9. She will lead efforts to promote the university through coordinated public relations, media relations and marketing programs.

| Papé’s Recognized with Pioneer Award |
 A husband-wife team was honored for their business and philanthropic contributions during the University of Oregon's annual Pioneer Award Gala on Saturday, May 14, at the Portland Hilton Hotel. This year's recipients are Randy and Susie Papé. Both graduated from the UO in 1972. Though they live in Eugene, their companies have a major presence throughout Oregon and beyond.
