The recipients of the 2005-6 Portland Alumni Chapter scholarships have been announced. This year, the chapter was able to award three scholarships to incoming freshman from the Portland area. Araceli Gonzalez from Woodburn High School, Rebecca Joy McKinley from Country Christian High School, and Paige Ridinger from Tualatin High School have accepted the scholarships and will begin their college careers this fall when they enroll at UO.
These three scholarships were made possible through funds raised by the Portland Alumni Chapter through auctions, events and personal contributions. The chapter awards at least one scholarship each academic year to a deserving incoming freshman. There were more than 135 applicants meeting the requirements that include the following elements: Incoming freshman with a minimum 3.25 high school GPA and residing within defined zip codes (Portland - 97000-97299 and SW Washington 98600-98699) were eligible for the scholarship.
