Education: Learning… to Transform Lives

Portland friends and alumni of the UO College of Education (COE) lend their voices to the newly released COE video: Learning… to Transform Lives. The video highlights the College of Education as a network of inclusive learning communities and shows that it does more than educate and mold the teachers of tomorrow.

The COE is a school whose pioneering research is improving teaching practices and instructional methods in our nation’s classrooms. Renowned expertise in designing and implementing effective teaching practices, the College of Education is one of the top public colleges of education in the country. Our research and outreach services serve thousands of schools in thirty-eight states.

The video features commentary from Portland metro educators such as Jerome Colonna, the Beaverton School District superintendent; Roger Woehl, West Linn-Wilsonville School District superintendent; and Principal of Metzger Elementary School and UO alumna Karen Twain.

“I can tell you that the University of Oregon has made a huge difference in our school district and in our school,” Twain said. “We have grown from a school that ‘did the right thing’ to a school that is now using the best practices and it’s making a huge difference for our kids and families.”
