Landscape Architects gather to support UO Scholarship

The Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) hosted a "Fall Colors" auction gala on September 24 that doubled an existing scholarship endowment for the Department of Landscape Architecture. Approximately 125 landscape architects, alumni and friends of the University of Oregon attended the elegant evening at Montgomery Park in Portland, and participated in a silent auction, dinner and enthusiastic live auction. Anne Jaeger, host of "Around the House" on KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8, was the master of ceremonies.

"It was incredible to see everyone come together to support our students," said UO Landscape Architecture Department Head Stan Jones. "Many of our students, whether native Oregonians or not, stay and work in Oregon. The Oregon Chapter ASLA has continued to invest in our students, which in turn invests in the future of the field of landscape architecture in the state of Oregon."

The ASLA Student Aid Award provides an annual award for students with demonstrated promise as a landscape architect, academic merit, and personal investment in professional activities while in school. In 1997, the Oregon Chapter ASLA held a similar event that established the scholarship.
