The Festival & Event Management Workshop and Certificate Program received an Ovation Award from the Oregon Festivals & Events Association at this year’s Northwest Festivals and Events Conference that took place March 25-27, 2007 in Walla Walla, Wash. Sandra Gladney, Festival & Event Management program director, and Gaylene Carpenter, UO arts and administration associate professor emerita, were both in attendance to accept the award.
Ovation Award winners are selected by the Ovation Awards committee each year from a pool of nominations. The Festival & Event Management Program was honored for its dedicated and active role with OFEA. According to presenter Scott Ingalls, the OFEA Board of Directors nominated the program for a number of reasons, including the educational discounts it offers to OFEA members, its promotion and encouragement of OFEA participation at workshops, the sponsorships and partnerships it successfully fosters, and the cooperative mentality of the program as a whole.
The Festival & Event Management Program, now in its eight year, offers workshops in Portland. It is a partnership between the University of Oregon Arts and Administration Program and the University of Oregon’s Division of Continuing Education.
