Profiles: Jeff Nudelman ’83

Jeff NudelmanWhat is your current profession?

I am the General Counsel of Parr Lumber Company. Parr Lumber is the 20th largest building material supplier in the country.

Why are you still, and what makes you want to be, connected to the UO through the Alumni Association?

My time at the UO was one of the most positive and life changing experiences. Now I am able to take a look at it and take a step back to see the transformation you go through. It is an unparalleled time in your life. The fact that you are able to establish a support network with so many people like you makes you able to develop a deep seeded connection that you can’t help but want to stay connected to, and that is what the Alumni Association is all about.

What is your biggest accomplishment since college?

Beginning to raise two boys who are morally grounded and have a social consciousness well beyond their years. Josh, age 12 and Sol, age 8. They are just amazing – Hurricane Katrina had a significant impact on their life, which was unsolicited from myself or my wife, they just wanted to help; they are just great kids.

How has the UO had an impact on your life?

The basis of the friendships and relationships that I built are still paramount in my life today. Plus, the feeling that makes me crazy every Saturday in the Fall.

Did you/do you have a mentor – someone that has helped you in your career or made a significant impact in the early years of your career?

There have been so many people, mostly family, parents and grandparents, who set pretty significant examples about how to live your life in moderation and be good people. I was also very fortunate to have all four grandparents with my in college and they were pretty significant influences for me growing up.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Still working so I can pay for my kids to go to UO! And I say that not just because of that, but also, I will have been working for Parr for almost 12 years, and I want to continue to help them grow and continue to serve the community and find more ways to make the world a better place.

If you could be any color crayon (think box of 64, not just the 8 primary colors), what color would you be and why?

I couldn’t be just one, I would have to be green and yellow, and that is because everything in my world and house. Even my boys are huge Duck fans! Our lives are Green and Yellow.
