Civil War Blood Drive

By UO student Chelsea Fullmer

The rivalry continues between the Ducks and the Beavers. The 12th annual Civil War Blood Drive is still underway, ahead of the Ducks’ game against the Beavers at Autzen Stadium on November 29. The University of Oregon Alumni Association and Oregon State University Alumni Association compete once again for the most blood donations during the month of November. The final count will be tallied on Sunday, November 24.

The American Red Cross and Lane County Blood Center team up and travel across the state of Oregon for blood donations to assist during the holiday season. Lane Blood Center and the American Red Cross also spent a week at the UO campus and the OSU campus so students could easily participate and help their respective teams compete for the Civil War Blood Drive trophy.

Participants have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win two tickets to the Civil War game, giving one more incentive to donating. One pint of donated blood can save up to three lives, and blood is always in high demand.

The UO Alumni Association looks to keep the Civil War Trophy at the Ford Alumni Center for the fourth year in a row. To check your eligibility and find a donation spot near you, visit
