More than 200 UOAA members gathered at the Ford Alumni Center on Saturday, February 1, for a Member Appreciation Party before the men’s basketball matchup against USC. With food, drinks, prizes, and games, members and their families mingled with fellow alumni before cheering on the men’s basketball team in a game promoted as the “Phil it Up” birthday celebration for prominent alumnus, donor, and Nike co-founder, Phil Knight ’59. UOAA staff members also joined the event to mingle with alumni and thank members for their dedication to the UO.
"It means so much to us to be able to say thank you to our members, and the Membership Appreciation Events are just one of many ways we get to do that," said UOAA Director of Membership Adrienne Darrah. “We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout. Everyone had such a great time, and it was amazing to see all the connections being made between members. We are looking forward to our next event, and hope our members are looking forward to it as well.”
The UOAA Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient Joshua Greenough ‘02 was also recognized at the member event, and was presented with his award by UO President Michael Gottfredson and UOAA Executive Director Tim Clevenger during the basketball game.
Many UOAA members headed next door to the Matthew Knight Arena after the Membership Appreciation Party, and saw the Ducks beat the Trojans 78-66 in front of a crowd of more than 11,000 fans.
