2014 Homecoming Reunions

The UOAA gears up to host three reunions over Homecoming weekend

The University of Oregon Alumni Association hosts three reunions over Homecoming weekend, and invites all alumni back to their alma mater to reconnect with the campus.

Friday, October 17 • 5:00 p.m.

Now in its fourth year, this special reunion is an exciting opportunity for alumni of color to visit campus; meet students; tour campus, buildings and student unions; and reconnect with one another. The UOAA organizes the reunion in partnership with the Office of Equity and Inclusion and Student Affairs.

This year's reunion will be a reception with a dinner option to follow. Click here to learn more and R.S.V.P.

Friday, October 17 • 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

Fifty years ago, when you donned your cap and gown and joined the UO alumni family, the university was a much different place. The football team called Hayward Field "home"—now the Ducks play in 54,000-capacity Autzen Stadium. The Smothers Brothers and Peter, Paul, and Mary performed at Mac Court—now rock bands play to sold out crowds in the Matthew Knight Arena. Homecoming used to include a keg hunt and tug-o-war—now it involves a parade through the streets of the university (including 13th street, down which the public can no longer drive).

But one thing that hasn't changed—and never will—is the indomitable Duck spirit. Ducks still strive for academic excellence, bleed green and yellow, and take great pride in the UO. That is just as true today, in 2014, as it was in 1964.

Please join the UOAA, 1964 Class President Dick Rapp, and your fellow members of the class of 1964 in returning to the UO for Homecoming to reconnect with your alma mater. See what has changed since you were last on campus, and what has remained exactly as you remember it. Sit in on classes and meet current Ducks and professors, tour campus (though there are no cider-filled kegs hidden away anymore), and attend a reception held in your honor in the Ford Alumni Center, one of the UO's many new additions.

Friday, October 17 • 12:00–1:30 p.m.

All members of the Order of the Emerald are invited to wear their medallions and join us at a luncheon held in your honor. The Class of ’64 will be celebrating their 50th reunion, and will receive their medallions and be inducted into the Order of the Emerald that evening.

University Architect and Associate Vice President for Campus Planning and Real Estate Chris Ramey will talk about the changing face of campus, and will discuss how much things have changed and how much they have remained the same. There will also be a campus update from Vice President for Enrollment Management Roger Thompson, who will comment on the new Governing Board and give a snapshot of today’s students. You are welcome to attend a tour of campus in the morning or afternoon, or visit the Museum of Natural and Cultural History.
