What a wedding present! After Ohio native Tanya Parker started dating Englishman James Pursey, she learned quickly that she was “sharing” him with somebody else—Steve Prefontaine, the legendary runner James idolized. James, once a runner himself in England until a misdiagnosed foot injury left him barely able to walk without the aid of crutches, even put Eugene alongside the famed Italian cities of Rome and Venice as the places he’d most like to visit. So, when Tanya and James were wed on February 7, Tanya gave James the surprise of his life—they were flying to Eugene for a day to see Hayward Field and Pre’s Rock (pictured) before leaving for their honeymoon.
