The Oregon Alumni Band joins the UOAA family
The University of Oregon Alumni Association is proud to welcome a new affinity group, one that promises to be the loudest one yet.
This spring, the Oregon Alumni Band joined the UOAA family, giving former band members access to the alumni association’s rewards.
“Joining the UOAA is going to be great for the alumni and for the current band,” said Athletic Band Director Eric Wiltshire. “I look forward working with a stronger and more influential alumni group.”
As a UOAA affinity group, alumni band members can now enjoy all of the same rewards as other UOAA members, including discounts at national and local retailers, invitations to members-only events, travel opportunities, and early access to single-game football tickets—so they can watch the current Oregon Marching Band play the songs they already know by heart.
“All the work that the board puts in has always been for infrastructure purposes,” said Sarah Dodson ’08, Oregon Alumni Band board member at large and former member of the Colorguard (2004–08). “Now with the help of the UOAA, we’re able to spend a lot more of our energies as a board on reaching new members, cultivating relationships, and providing great opportunities for them. It is an exciting thing that now anyone who becomes a member of the alumni band can also get all of the amazing benefits that the UOAA has to offer, and vice versa.”
With the football spring game on May 2 fast approaching, Oregon Alumni Band members have a great opportunity to both reconnect with fellow band members, and learn more about the UOAA. Registration for the spring game is now open, and alumni are invited to play and spin with the current band and fellow alumni, and hear from UOAA Executive Director Paul Clifford about the Oregon Alumni Band's exciting partnership with the UOAA, membership options, and upcoming leadership opportunities to join the board of directors. This event is free and open to all band alumni.
