University of Oregon Alumni Association events are special. They provide Ducks opportunities to come together and celebrate the shared experience of attending—and loving—the UO with a diverse array of activities. Each year the UOAA hosts member appreciation nights, class reunions, special discount shopping events, tailgates… Need we go on? You get the point; life is good when you’re an Oregon alumnus or alumna.
Kick off this year’s menu of events with February’s Member Appreciation Night! UOAA members are invited to come and celebrate with refreshments and entertainment at the Ford Alumni Center before heading next door to watch the Ducks beat the Beavers on the court. Special guest speaker Athletic Director Rob Mullens will be sure to fire up the crowd for a fun night.
You can also look forward to exciting events this spring such as the Multicultural Alumni Conference. This annual conference invites alumni and students of the UO to learn about and discuss diversity initiatives on and beyond campus. This year’s theme is “Ducks Creating Change.”
Summer starts with a bang at graduation as the UOAA welcomes a new class of Ducks to the alumni family. At the Senior Send-off, a Student Alumni Association event, graduating students can hear from alumni about what life after college holds. Seniors can connect with potential employers over root beer floats and win giveaway prizes from the UOAA, SAA, and a host of local sponsors.
But just as one class goes out, another comes in. With a new school year on the horizon, throughout the summer the UOAA helps welcome the newest flock of Ducklings with Oregon Migrations, special events hosted in conjunction with the Office of Enrollment Management to bring together Ducks-to-be and alumni in a network of support.
Things continue to pick up in the fall. Be sure not to miss the UOAA’s tailgates, which include food, refreshments, and exciting, exclusive performances and appearances by UO guests. Football season is celebrated on campus with homecoming weekend and the annual 50th year class reunion. This fall the UOAA will welcome the class of 1966 back to campus for a weekend that includes a campus tour highlighting new buildings and development, a reception with special UO guests, the homecoming parade, and more.
Fall also brings the year’s second Member Appreciation Night as well as the Alumni Awards Celebration and the Nike and Columbia employee store discount shopping events. The Alumni Awards Celebration, held annually, recognizes exceptional graduates from the University of Oregon with the Distinguished Alumni Award, Outstanding Young Alumni Award, and the Jeanne Johnson Alumni Service Award. Past recipients include notable alumni such as author Ken Kesey ’57, Nike co-founder Phil Knight ’59, and Nobel Prize winner Walter Brattain MA ’26. At the member-exclusive shopping events, the UOAA facilitates entry to the Nike and Columbia employee stores for an amazing discounted shopping opportunity as a thank you for membership.
No matter the time of year, there are always UOAA events to show your school pride, expand your Duck network, and take advantage of the awesome benefits of your relationship with the UOAA. Involvement with the UOAA helps make the University of Oregon stronger by supporting alumni programming, student scholarships, alumni to student mentoring, and so much more.
