The new Oregon Ducks license plate is available through the Oregon DMV, either by mail or at DMV locations. The surcharge from each plate provides support to student scholarships and alumni association programs & services worldwide.

If you purchased a voucher in our campaign to secure the plates, thank you! When you get your plates you will submit your prepaid voucher to the DMV in place of the first plate surcharge fee.

Here's how to get your plates:

The new Ducks license plate is now available through Oregon DMV, either by mail or at DMV locations.

  • If you are more than four months (120 days) out from your current sticker expiration date, you can order your plates online at oregondmv.com, as well as through a DMV location. See the form online. Mail that completed form with your replacement fee to DMV. Your new plates will come with replacement stickers.
  • If you are within four months (120 days) of your sticker expiration date, you must order the plates at a DMV location, and you will also pay the regular registration renewal fees.
  • If you are buying a new or used vehicle from a licensed dealer, you may order Duck plates as part of the car buying process.
  • Custom/vanity plates are available with the Duck plate; you can transfer your current custom plate number to the Duck plate or apply for a new custom plate.
  • In all the above cases, you’ll either need to pay the $40 surcharge (which benefits students and the UOAA) or redeem your voucher.

Typical fees and charges for the above scenarios:

The cost of a set of plates depends upon when and how a vehicle owner applies for a new set. Here are two common scenarios:

Plates ordered MORE THAN 120 days (4 months) before a vehicle’s stickers expire:

  • Duck surcharge: $40 or your prepaid voucher (also paid at every renewal)
  • Plate fee: $24.50 for the pair
  • Plate replacement fee: $10
  • Total: $74.50
  • Total with a prepaid voucher: $34.50

Plates ordered WITHIN 120 days (4 months) before a vehicle’s stickers expire (will require payment of regular registration renewal fees):

  • Duck surcharge: $40 or your prepaid voucher (also paid at every renewal)
  • Plate fee: $24.50 for the pair
  • Plate replacement fee: $5
  • Registration renewal: $112 (Multnomah County residents add $38; Washington County residents add $60)
  • Total: $181.50 ($219.50 in Multnomah County; $241.50 in Washington County)
  • Total with a prepaid voucher: $141.50 ($179.50 in Multnomah County; $201.50 in Washington County)

Have a voucher? Here's how to use it:

Your prepaid voucher can be used in place of the standard $40 plate surcharge. You must present the voucher as proof of payment for the first plate surcharge. The voucher can be used only once.

If you've misplaced your voucher and need a replacement, email the UOAA or call us at 800-245-ALUM.

About the Design

The image, showing the Duck at the center of green ripples spreading outward, represents the impact that Ducks have on the world around them. The plates were designed by Tinker Hatfield, BArch ’77, Nike’s vice president for design and special projects and an icon of the design industry. Your car could now boast a license plate designed by the same Duck responsible for Nike’s legendary Air Jordan line and the University of Oregon's iconic "O."
