UO Women in Graduate Sciences
Fourth Annual Fundraiser

Saturday, March 17, 2018 • 5:30–8:30 p.m.


The University of Oregon Women in Graduate Sciences cordially invites you to our fourth annual fundraiser, with speaker astronaut Wendy Lawrence. The evening will include a sit-down dinner and silent auction. Please join us as we celebrate our continued growth and success!

Registration:

$80 for individual seats (open table seating)
$640 for a table of eight
Price includes one drink ticket, appetizers, starter salad and bread, dinner, dessert, and coffee/tea. 

Cocktail attire.

Dinner Options:

  • Grilled chicken with crisp pancetta and pomegranate sauce, served with crushed garlic chive potatoes and seasonal vegetables. (Made without gluten, contains dairy and pork.)
  • Coffee rubbed pork tenderloin with date chutney and fried onion straws, served with coconut purple potato puree and seasonal vegetables. (Made without gluten and dairy.)
  • Grilled polenta with roasted garlic and cherry tomatoes topped with cilantro chutney and served with seasonal vegetables. (Vegan and made without gluten.)
Additional drinks are available for purchase (cash, Visa, and MasterCard accepted). The bar will feature sodas, beer, cider, wine, and two signature cocktails.

Astronaut Wendy Lawrence


Astronaut Lawrence: A Quick Biography

Astronaut Lawrence is a retired NASA Astronaut who completed four space shuttle flights as Mission Specialist (STS-67, STS-86, STS-91, STS-114). She logged 51 days, 3 hours, and 56 minutes in space. In addition, she was a Crewmember and Robotic Arm operator on the first Return to Flight mission after the Columbia accident. Astronaut Lawrence is a US Navy Helicopter Pilot with 1,500+ hours in six different types of helicopters. She was the first female US Naval Academy graduate to become an astronaut and was a member of the second class to graduate women from the Academy. She was also a physics instructor and novice women’s crew coach at the Academy. Astronaut Lawrence is passionate about students and inspiring the next generation to “Dare to Dream,” particularly in STEM fields.
