Alumni with the Duck

Reunion season is back!

Reunion season is quickly approaching, and the University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA) is excited to welcome alumni back to campus with the Oregon Alumni Band Reunion, Black Alumni Reunion, and a combined 50th reunion for the 1972 and 1973 classes.

“Our great tradition of reunions returns stronger than ever this fall,” says Raphe Beck, UOAA’s executive director, “We hear from alumni that they miss gathering together in person; These events are a great opportunity to reconnect with old Duck friends and make some new ones.”

Reunion events take place between September 9 and October 22 and bring together Ducks from various generations and backgrounds.

Oregon Alumni Band Reunion

Made up of Oregon Marching Band and Color Guard alumni and UOAA members with band experience, the Oregon Alumni Band is a group of music playing, tradition-loving, Duck-spirited alumni. Hosted by the UOAA and the School of Music and Dance, the Oregon Alumni Band Reunion is September 9–11 and will feature a weekend full of activities. Former bandmates will reconnect for an awards reception, the annual meeting, the opportunity to perform at Autzen Stadium, and more. The reunion is open to all alumni, and registration is open.

Black Alumni Reunion

Established in 2016, the Black Alumni Network connects Black alumni and provides support for current Black UO students.

“It has been four years since we have been together due to the COVID Pandemic, so we are very pleased to welcome Black Alumni back to campus for the Black Alumni Reunion,” UO Black Alumni Network President Ericka Warren said. “This year's reunion is particularly exciting as we introduce the Scholarship Benefit and Duck Legends awards gala. Alumni, family, and community have the opportunity to not only reconnect and honor deserving alumni and allies, but they can be part of a movement to further enhance recruitment and retention of Black students by seeding into the UO Black Alumni Scholarship Endowment.”

The Black Alumni Reunion, September 29–October 2, offers a weekend full of activities to meet and reconnect with members of the Black Alumni Network: networking opportunities, campus tours, live music, a tailgate before the Ducks take on Stanford, the inaugural awards gala, and Sunday Soul Brunch. The reunion is open to all alumni, and people are encouraged to register before the early-bird special ends.

Classes of 1972 and 1973 50th Reunion

In 1972, the single-chip microprocessor was invented. Johnny Nash’s “I Can See Clearly Now”, Don McLean’s “American Pie”, and Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me” topped the charts. And The Godfather ruled the box office. Merely a year later in 1973, spiders were sent to space. Garlic knots were invented, and the Ducks won their second men’s cross country NCAA championship.

From October 20 through 22, members of the classes of 1972 and 1973 are invited back to campus to reconnect and celebrate their 50th reunion. Taking place over Homecoming Weekend, the reunion will have plenty of fun events, including campus tours, Order of the Emerald honors , and a reunion tailgate before the football game against UCLA. Registration is open.
