The University of Oregon's first library was established in 1891, after Henry Villard donated $1,000 worth of books. Built in 1937 and home of the largest research collection in the state (plus the personal collections of the likes of James Ivory, BA '51 and Ken Kesey, BS '57), the UO's Knight Library is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
