Duck Alumni Career Blog

Hello from Silicon Valley

As a Duck who’s spread my wings in Silicon Valley the last 25 years, it is an honor to share my experience with you. James Chang (Director of the Duck Career Network) asked that I share insights from my career as a talent management leader and consultant for innovative tech firms, from start-ups to Fortune 500 enterprises.

My work with companies like Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, SST, Palm, and others has centered on building world-class companies where people love to work and are able to accomplish incredible things. Roles as an adviser and Board member for organizations like the American Red Cross, Coro Foundation for civic leadership, and the Bay Area Executive Development Network have also been enormously fulfilling and educational. I've been fortunate to work on engaging, fun and meaningful people-related assignments involving strategy, leadership, talent management, human dynamics, resilience, execution, and organization development. In addition, I've been coached by and also have coached a diverse set of international executives, from functional and business unit directors to GMs and CEOs. My roles have allowed me to observe characteristics of successful and not so successful people.

My undergraduate study was in Psychology, with an emphasis in Business, at Oregon and my graduate work was in Organization Development at the University of San Francisco.

I've found several key skills that have helped people around the world to be successful and contribute to the growth of their companies. Over time I will share blog entries that I hope you find interesting and useful.

Go Ducks!
