Message from Executive Director Raphe Beck

March 13, 2020

I am reaching out to share an update on the university’s response to the nationwide COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, and an email President Michael H. Schill sent to the campus community on March 11, 2020.

First and foremost is the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. The UO is deeply committed to continuing its educational mission of academic research, teaching, and community service. As the situation continues to evolve, the UO will be working with its colleagues in higher education, local and state authorities, and campus leaders to ensure the university is responsive to the changing environment caused by this outbreak.

I invite you to read President Schill’s full letter to the community.

In accordance with university policy, as well as various government efforts in communities around the world, we have postponed or cancelled all in-person alumni events through at least April 30. We will continue to offer virtual alumni programs during this time.

This is a rapidly evolving situation, and the UO’s COVID-19 Updates and Information page is the best source for tracking university updates related to the virus.

In closing, I send you my best wishes for your health and safety.

Best,

Raphe Beck
Executive Director
