At the Networking Workshop held on April 21st, SAA members received tips and tricks on networking from none other than the Director of The Duck Career Network, James Chang. James had students pair up with alumni and practice several possible scenarios that can happen while networking. Some of these scenarios included having a conversation with someone who has poor eye contact, or is distracted by others in the room. Students then got the chance to use their newly learned skills to impress Alumni, and some students even received business cards from our impressed Alumni! Here’s what SAA Member and SAA Media Intern, Ruby Betten, had to say about the event:

"Yesterday, I participated in the Networking Workshop with fellow Ducks and alumni. The workshop was held in the Club at Autzen and consisted of fun role-playing activities designed to teach various networking techniques. During each activity, I practiced a specific networking skill with a professional who provided feedback and advice. As a soon-to-be graduate, I appreciated the opportunity to practice networking in a safe environment and learn how alumni started their careers after graduation. I even got my professional LinkedIn headshot taken!"
