The UO Miracle Madness dance marathon was a great success! I led a team of SAA members and SAA leadership that attended and fundraised for the event. UO Miracle Madness raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network which supports local infant and child hospital units. The six hour event was filled with activities, food, and dancing. Thanks to generous sponsors such as Kind Snacks and Kaplan Test Preparation there were snacks and raffle prizes for attendees. There were also guest performances by Jam Squad, a hip-hop dance group, and Mind the Gap, the mixed gender a Capella group on campus, as well as the Morale Captains (including our own Director of Philanthropy and Advocacy, Anetra Brown) performing a new dance every hour.
There was also an opportunity for families and their children who have been touched by the Children’s Miracle Network to share their stories and provide inspiration for the students participating and fundraising for the event. In the grand reveal at the end of the event, we were excited to learn that the event raised over $20,000 for children at the Riverbend Hospital in Springfield! Thank you so much to all of our generous donors who contributed to our team’s fundraising efforts! It was great to be a part of an event that is not only fun, but also supports the children and families in our community.

The Children's Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for, and awareness of, children's hospitals. Dance Marathon events across the country have contributed more than $21 million to the Children's Miracle Network since 1995, affecting the lives of more than 17 million children. In addition to raising funds for an amazing cause, Dance Marathon also offers an opportunity to build community by bringing together hundreds of students from across campus.
