On February 4, the University of Oregon Student Alumni Association partnered with the University of Oregon Career Center and Lundquist College of Business to put on a Etiquette Dinner and Business Fashion Show. The event brought students, alumni, and local professionals together in the Giustina Ballroom, to teach business dining etiquette and proper business attire.
All participants of the event showed up dressed to impress and ready to learn. Students had an opportunity to get a headshot taken by a professional photographer and were entered a raffle for gift cards to our sponsor stores to build their business wardrobe. Inside the ballroom, a runway was set up amidst the array of tables for guests. Each table was sponsored by an individual or organization that was invested in the event, allowing students to seat themselves with professionals in their field of interest.
The keynote speaker, Mindy Lockard, who is the founder of "The Gracious Girl," and an internationally recognized etiquette expert, took the stage after a brief welcome by UO Career Center events coordinator Colleen Lewis. Mindy walked everyone through the various steps of the evening that required proper etiquette, as table hosts modeled her instructions for students.
After a fantastic four-course meal by the University of Oregon catering service, the fashion show began. This portion of the event was to show guests the proper levels of business and business casual attire for professional settings. The models were our very own Student Alumni Association interns and members. Clothing being modeled was from sponsoring stores Macy's, Nordstrom Rack, and JC Penney.
The event had a great turnout, and all of the guests learned a thing or two about professional meal etiquette and the appropriate attire for various business situations, while enjoying a fun night of networking with other Ducks.
