Q&A with Eddie Molina

April 28, 2019

Want to become more involved on campus? You've come to the right place. It’s that time of year to apply to intern with the SAA! In the spirit of applying, we have interviewed Eddie Molina, our Assistant Director of Engagement and Volunteer Management, on his experience with the SAA. Eddie is a Senior majoring in Economics with a minor in Business and this is his first year interning with the SAA.

What made you apply?

I wanted to gain leadership experience in a non-profit setting and also learn more about the SAA. At the time, I only knew SAA as the beat t-shirt organization, but I now know that is only the fundamental aspect, there is so much more to it!

What have you gotten out of the internship?

I've made many friends, began professional relationships with alumni, and obtained leadership experience.

What skills do you think you’ve gained that you can apply in your future career prospects?

Most importantly, I would say accountability and responsibility. The amount differs based on how much you can handle on your plate, but I feel like I have gotten the most out of the internship when I have put a heavy load of work on my shoulders and followed through.

What advice can you give an intern in your position?

Think of new ideas. Be unique. Make the internship what you want it to be. Work hard and meet the various cornerstones as you will eventually work with them.

What was your best experience?

My favorite experience with the SAA has been all of the networking opportunities we offer. For Juniors and Seniors it is a vital opportunity to start making connections but most importantly, learning how to make professional connections. I wish I had joined the internship earlier into my college career because the sky is the limit in the SAA.

What has been your favorite SAA event?

Alumni Speed Networking. The event was a huge success, the feedback from the alumni I met with was very encouraging and helped me prepare for graduation without stressing as much I was before. They all shared their own wisdom and advice not only about school but about life as well.
