Patricia Pierce
Class of 1953
PAT CHOAT PIERCE, BA ’53 (journalism), MS ’62 (interdisciplinary studies), a retired educator, community philanthropist, journalist, and local historian of North Bend, was recognized by the state legislature for service that included the establishment of a community scholarship for students, creation of a nonprofit dog obedience school, and the founding of an annual event to celebrate the birthday of the city.
Jon Meyer
Class of 1969
Jon Meyer, and his wife Pat attended the commissioning of the USS Oregon in Groton, CT on May 28, 2022. Oregon’s Governor Kate Brown gave the keynote address. The USS Oregon is the newest Virginia Class attack submarine in the fleet.

LUKE ZAK, MBA ’21 (general business), joined the Washington County Visitors Association as sports destination sales executive, charged with leading the destination group sales and service function for the sports and social, military, educational, religious, and fraternal group markets.

NATHAN STEIN, BA ’18 (history), who has worked in Montana state government and grassroots advocacy in Helena and Butte, was hired as a development assistant at Bridgercare, a nonprofit reproductive health care facility in Bozeman.

BLAKE STANTON, BA ’14 (general social science), was featured in AfroTech, a tech, investing, and wealth-building platform for the Black community, as the founder of the Quiktract app, which helps entrepreneurs and freelancers connect, develop contracts, and secure payments.

NATHAN HARRIS, BA ’14 (English), author of the debut novel The Sweetness of Water, was awarded the 2021 Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, presented annually to an emerging African American fiction writer to honor Gaines, whose stories gave voice to African Americans in rural areas.
