Several Ducks shared what they most enjoy about being a UOAA member and how their involvement with the UOAA has impacted their lives. Discover their stories and join us in experiencing community, impactful connections, and loads of fun.
Barb Brenner, BS ’77 (journalism) and Paul Brenner BS ’88 (history)
Barb and Paul Brenner have attended UOAA events for years. Most recently, they flocked with fellow alumni to the Mighty Oregon Tailgate at Penn State, which brought together Ducks fans from across the country to represent yellow and green during Penn State’s White Out game. The connections the Brenners have made as UOAA Life members and by traveling with other Ducks through the UOAA’s travel program have left a lasting impact.
“We have grown to rely on the alumni association for university updates, news, but most importantly to us, alumni football tailgates,” Barb said. “When we travel to Ducks football games, we always make it a point to attend the tailgates, and that includes bowl games. Each tailgate is unique, but we always meet new people, reconnect with old acquaintances, and generally have a great time. Away game day just wouldn’t be the same with[out] the [Mighty Oregon] Tailgate.”
With the Mighty Oregon Tailgate at Washington on November 29 in Seattle and postseason football games on the horizon, save on tailgate registration with our member rates. Plus, take advantage of our packages to travel with the Ducks—a benefit exclusively for UOAA members.
Hana Mazur BS ’25 (public relations) UOAA Life member
For Hana Mazur, the opportunity to build a professional network of fellow Ducks has directly supported her career journey. Mazur began attending events through the Duck Career Network and Student Alumni Association as an undergraduate student. Now a recent graduate and a master’s student, Mazur is experiencing the impact of the network she built, while supporting fellow Ducks as a UOAA member.
“My UOAA membership helps me stay connected to the Duck community and reminds me how special it is to be part of the University of Oregon long after graduation,” Mazur said. “When I was just a sophomore attending UOAA events, I never imagined how those connections would shape my path. I landed an internship this past summer through my Duck alumni network and even got my current job after attending a networking event at the [Black Cultural Center] that brought together current students and Black alumni. Now, as a future Double Duck pursuing my master’s degree, I’ve seen firsthand that Ducks really are everywhere, supporting, guiding, and celebrating one another through every stage of life! Being part of the alumni association keeps that sense of community and pride alive no matter where I go.”
Recent graduates already receive a special 50% discount on Life membership. This is the best time to stack discounts and save for the classes of 2021–25. Thanks to UOAA members, membership to the UO Student Alumni Association is free for all current students.
Jay Chin, BS ’02 (accounting) UOAA Annual member
Jay Chin and his family have attended events like the Mighty Oregon Tailgate at the 2025 Rose Bowl. For him, supporting the growth and success of the Duck community feels significant.
“The University of Oregon helped shape who I am and opened doors that continue to impact my life. Staying connected through the UOAA lets me give back, share my Duck pride, and stay close to Oregon athletics,” Chin said. “This has been an inspiration not just for me, but for my kids, who are growing up surrounded by that same energy and passion that make being a Duck so special.”
