Gifts for travelers
My name is Shannon Rose-Peterson, director of alumni initiatives here at the UO Alumni Association, and I manage the UOAA’s alumni travel program. I’ve heard from some of you that you’d like to have more information on how to get the most out of your alumni travel experience, so I decided to start this little blog. You can expect monthly posts with a couple bonus posts when I’m out and about in the world with fellow Ducks. I’ll try to keep this a good balance of practical travel tips and also help you get to know our fellow alumni travelers.
To kick things off, I thought we might talk about gifts for the traveler in your life. If you’re anything like me, you likely wonder what to give your favorite travel partner for the holidays or for their birthday each year. I’ve listed below my top must-haves for travel as well as my top destinations for the upcoming year.
- Packing Cubes
Why it's a great gift: Packing cubes are a traveler's organizational dream. They maximize luggage space, keep belongings neatly compartmentalized, and make unpacking a breeze. - Electrical Converter
Why it's a great gift: For the globetrotter, a reliable electrical converter is indispensable. The added bonus of a USB port ensures that their essential devices stay charged without the need for additional adapters. It's a thoughtful and practical gift that guarantees seamless connectivity, no matter where their adventures take them. - Waterproof phone case
Why it's a great gift: A waterproof phone case is a must-have for any traveler, offering protection against unexpected rain, water activities, or accidental spills. Many of these waterproof phone cases come with a lanyard and a carabiner, making it a great addition to a snorkeling adventure. - Gel eye mask
Why it's a Great Gift: Traveling often involves crossing time zones, leading to jet lag and tired eyes. A gel eye mask, especially when chilled in the hotel room refrigerator, becomes a soothing remedy for puffy eyes. It's a thoughtful addition to the travel kit, ensuring your loved one arrives at their destination looking and feeling refreshed.
