The Calabrese-Kenny-Muraoka family: creating a legacy of Ducks
Kylie Calabrese-Kenny, Class of 2026 (business administration and art), is a second-generation Duck and transfer student studying business administration and art. Her move to the UO was wholly influenced by her aunt, Kimberly Muraoka, BS ’92 (accounting), and mother, Christy Calabrese, BS ’95 (advertising). “I brainwashed her,” jokes Christy.
Both proud members of the Hawaii Ducks alumni chapter, Christy and Kimberly have been involved with the UO for years, taking every chance possible to indoctrinate Kylie into UO traditions and athletics.
“The UO is an innovator, a trendsetter, a superior academic institution, and I’m proud to have been a part of it all! UO just has that cool factor that I love,” Kimberly says.
But the UO has changed quite a bit since Kimberly and Christy were in school. Kimberly noted the changes in technology, residence halls, and the clear increase in athletic hype, while also being thrilled that Track Town Pizza is still in service.
Turns out, the new resources at the UO and the student quality of life are exactly what Kylie was looking for. “My mom and aunty have always made it seem like UO is the best it gets, and once it came time to start looking at college, I realized how true they were. For what I was looking for in terms of academic challenges, geographic location, and student atmosphere, UO fit every aspect. What really is my favorite is the prospect of a student body that is proud of their athletics and I’m excited for that college town feel,” she says.
Kylie is most looking forward to walking to Autzen on gameday, working for the football creative team, and joining the Hawaii Club.
Kimberly and Christy are thrilled for her.
“There’s no better place than the University of Oregon,” Christy says.
