UOAA Board Nominations
Terms on the UOAA Board are three years beginning July 1st and can be renewed for a second three-year term. The board’s nominations committee reviews applications in winter and spring. The full board votes on recommended candidates at the spring meeting.
Nominations must be received by Friday, January 30, 2026 to be considered for the 2026–27 board year. For questions on the UOAA board or the nominations process, please email Executive Director Raphe Beck.
The board's nomination committee is looking for candidates who can advise the UOAA staff on how to best engage over 275,000 living UO alumni. Candidates with experience engaging UO students or alumni—either formally or informally—or those with similar experience engaging other communities are encouraged to apply. Board members must be current UOAA members.
For the 2026-27 class, the board particularly seeks nominations from any of the following groups so that the composition of the board may best reflect the demographics of the overall alumni population and the UOAA’s officially chartered groups.
- Alumni who graduated before 1986
- Alumni living in Lane County
- Alumni living in greater Portland
- Alumni living in Washington state
- Graduates of the School of Music and Dance
- Graduates of Clark Honors College
- Alumni who were varsity athletes
- Alumni with a certificate in Sports Product Management
Note: not every candidate needs to fulfill any of these categories. As stated above, the committee is primarily seeking all candidates who can advise the UOAA staff on engaging all UO alumni.
Open House Calls for interested alumni
The UOAA board’s nominations committee holds a pair of open house video calls where interested alumni can learn more about the board and the nomination process. The content is the same on each call. Candidates who participated in last year’s open houses may want to attend an open house again this year as the UOAA board nominations committee has new members since last year.
This year's open house calls will be scheduled shortly; please email Executive Director Raphe Beck if you would like to be alerted about the calls.
Tips on UOAA Board Nominations
Board members should have the time and resources to participate in board meetings. The board meets in person three times each year -- twice in Eugene and once in Portland. Meetings are generally all day on a Friday and a half day on Saturday in the fall, winter, and spring. Board members commit to participating in all board meetings and serving as ambassadors within the UO alumni community. International board members are expected to attend at least one meeting per year in person. U.S.-based board members are expected to attend at least two meetings per year in person.
All candidates are asked to self-nominate. This is a competitive process. In recent years, the committee has received nominations for 20-65 candidates each year and selects an average of seven new board members.
