The University of Oregon Black Alumni Network is thrilled to recognize exceptional individuals who embody our spirit of service and excellence during the 2022 Black Alumni Reunion Weekend September 29 - October 2, 2022. The UOBAN Duck Legends Awards recognizes outstanding Black Alumni and allies for achievements in their professional lives, personal integrity and service to the University of Oregon and their community.
The Duck Legends awards acknowledge the achievements of our Black alumni and allies who have made a difference in the categories listed below. The honorees will be recognized during the Black Alumni Awards Gala Dinner on Friday September 30, 2022.
The mentorship award recognizes UO Black alumni/faculty/staff for student advocacy and unwavering service to the UO, Black Cultural Center, or Black Alumni Network.
The Rising Star Award honors a Black alumnus/alumna who graduated within the last ten years who has demonstrated substantial career accomplishments. Consideration is given to those who have had a significant impact in their profession or community.
The Innovator Award recognizes a Black alumnus/alumna who has grown a thriving business and is an innovator who has made significant advancements or changes in their industry.
The Impact in Athletics Award honors a former Black UO athlete who has achieved tremendous athletic success and/or whose leadership has created a positive impact on the UO or their community through athletics.
The Icon Award honors Black UO alumni/faculty/staff who has made meaningful contributions to the UO community through philanthropy, advocacy, support, mentoring, or other efforts.
The Global Citizen Award honors an individual making meaningful and lasting positive impact in the community around the globe, including significant contributions to diversity and inclusion that align with the mission and vision of UOBAN.
The Ally Award recognizes an ally (or organization) who exemplifies an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Consideration is given to those who have taken on the role of champion and advocate of Black students and the community. Awardees actively promote and aspire to advance a culture of inclusion through purposeful, positive, and mindful efforts that benefit the Black community.
