An ode to Homecoming

An ode to Homecoming

Oh, those days at Oregon! They are the best of all. And October 20–22, you’ll have the chance to reexperience those days at our annual Homecoming celebration!

The poem featured in our Homecoming video at the top of this story is from the 1921 Oregana yearbook and, more than one hundred years after it was written, still perfectly exemplifies Ducks spirit and how many alumni feel about returning to their alma mater. Whether you loved your time at the UO because of the athletics, the academics, the people, or a combination of all three, our Homecoming activities are designed to celebrate your niche and let you branch out, too.

This year’s Homecoming weekend encompasses two different alumni reunions for the classes of 2013 and 2014 and all former athletes. It’s not too late to attend these events tailored especially to the alumni groups they represent. If you belong to either group, don’t wait to buy your tickets for a Homecoming unlike any other.

And, don’t worry! Even if you’re not planning on attending a reunion, there are still plenty of Homecoming activities for you to enjoy. You can look forward to Fall Family Weekend, where parents can experience Duck life through the eyes of current students through events such as Run, Walk, and Roll With the Duck, our annual 5K alongside our reigning mascot and, of course, the pep rally before the Ducks take on Washington State. The game is definitely not to be missed, as we fight to keep our four-game winning streak against the Cougars going strong. A full list of events can be found here

Whatever your Homecoming plans are, know that when you’re here, you’re walking in the webbed feet of all those who came before you, and all who are to come. Just like in the poem, we hope you dream about your fondest UO memories on campus before joining us this fall, when you’ll get to relive them and make new ones.

Remember, when you’re here, you’re home. See you soon!
