Kanealii Ngosorio

Kāneali‘i Ng-Osorio earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the UO in 1998. He is now an enterprise business analyst for Kamehameha Schools, serves on the board of directors for the UO Alumni Association, and is the Hawaii Ducks regional UOAA chapter president. Kāne shares what motivates him to stay so involved supporting current and future Ducks, along with advice for current students and recent graduates.
 


 

A career committed to advocacy

Darrell Rico Doss, JD ’95, recently made the move from Capitol Hill to General Motors. He looks back on the last nearly three decades of advocacy work, including navigating the financial crisis of 2007–08, serving as Congressional Black Caucus policy director, and working in the Japanese government.

JAY LEO, BS '97 (political science), was named president of Touchmark, a full-service retirement living company based in Beaverton.

ALAN NEWBERG, MFA '69 (fine and applied arts), is scheduled for a feature exhibition of his sculpture April 1’25 at Northwind Art, Port Townsend, Washington, including carvings in fine wood up to nine feet tall.

MONA BUCKLEY, BA '85 (public relations), was appointed president and CEO of the Government Employees' Benefit Association, a nonprofit membership association offering group and individual insurance products and financial planning services to current and retired federal employees and members of the military.

CAMARA BANFIELD, BA '95 (international studies), JD '02, chief criminal deputy prosecutor in Clark County, Washington, was appointed Superior Court judge, a first for a woman of color in the county.

Julie Denney was promoted to senior communication manager for Providence Health & Services - Oregon Region. Julie is based in Medford and represents the southern Oregon service area for Providence.

Kevin Tripp

Class of 1997
Kevin Tripp is the midday news anchor at KABC Radio in Los Angeles, proving that political science really is the preferred route to journalism. His major achievements at Oregon were graduating in 6 years, taking creative writing from Chang-rae Lee, reading Hunter Thompson's faxes at Ken Kesey's house and once managing to impress Professor James Klonoski enough for him to proclaim "YOU'RE RIGHT!" He lives in Huntington Beach with his wife and two sons and still skis often, but misses the sessions at Willamette Pass with his fellow Ducks.

Richard Martin

After graduating UO with a BS Chemistry, I studied in grad school at UW and earned a MS Inorganic Chemistry.

I worked in the chemical and aerospace industries in Pocatello and Portland. Then I spent 30 years at Boeing working in Manufacturing Research and Development and Chemical Process Management.

After retiring from Boeing we moved east of the mountains to Richland WA.

Contributors range from UO Professor David Frank to former GOP candidate for governor Allen Alley, Rukayiah Adams of the Meyer Memorial Trust to Ginger Savage of Baker City. Susan Anderson
Susan Kay Anderson, B.S. Anthropology, 1984, (M.A. English Lit. & Creative Writing, C.U.-Boulder, 1990) has a forthcoming book of poems, Mezzanine, from Finishing Line Press. Anderson lives in Eugene and works at the University of Oregon for Campus Operations as a custodian. She recently completed an M.F.A. in Poetry at Eastern Oregon University. Her book was partly inspired by the exhibit: Color, A Magic Power, (Hayden Gallery in Lawrence Hall in 2016) curated by Professor Esther Hagenlocher with display stands designed by Professor Landry Smith.

MARK H. MASSE, MS '94 (journalism), published Honor House, a contemporary drama about sexual assault, fraternity culture, and political abuses of power.

Mark Bailey

Mark Bailey, BFA photography '79
Special Collections & University Archives at the University of Oregon Libraries accepted 139 photographs within three Oregon documentaries: Luckey’s Club Cigar, 1911-74; Junction City; and, Valsetz. Bailey is a retired Portland contractor living on the northern Oregon Coast.

Two photographs from photographer PAMELA GENTILE, BA '74 (English), were accepted in an open call by the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum, a fine arts museum located in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.

Board-certified endocrinologist ROBERT CHADBAND, BS '72 (biology), joined the Cullman Regional Medical Group, affiliated with the 145-bed Cullman Regional Medical Center, serving more than 175,000 residents in central Alabama.
