James has a ‘Ducks help Ducks’ mindset, and he has a passion for making the UO community stronger. He is director of career networking, membership, and business development. He loves helping alumni connect with one another and gain a sense of belonging to the larger Duck network. A favorite part of his job is seeing alumni make a positive impact on fellow Ducks through their affiliation with the UOAA.
James grew up in suburban Chicago. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communication studies at Northwestern University and he later obtained a master’s degree in higher education from Bowling Green State University. He joined the UOAA in 2013, but has been working at the UO since 1999, initially in career services at the Lundquist College of Business. Previously, he worked in career services at the University of Michigan and in college admissions at St. Norbert College.
On campus, you can find James appreciating the food at Carson Dining Hall. When he's not in the office, he enjoys visiting wineries, thrift shops and estate sales and playing volleyball. He also enjoys spending time with his husband, who is a UO alum, and their two dogs, Bella and Wrigley.
James has worked for the UO for over two decades, and he is passionate about the Duck community. He works to strengthen ties between Ducks for a stronger UO network.
