Ernest Bloch Legacy Committee presents a commemorative program, held at Newport’s Pacific Maritime Heritage Center this Sunday, July 14. Charmaine Leclair, PHD ’95, MMUS ’89, will perform “Suite No. 1 for Solo Cello,” which Bloch composed three years before his death, while living on the Oregon Coast. She received her PhD in music history and cello performance from the University of Oregon and was appointed as a core member of the cello section of the Newport Symphony in April 2024.

Box are delighted to welcome Dr. Joseph Claunch, MED ’08, as the new Director of the Department of Education, effective, July 1, 2024. Dr. Claunch holds a bachelor’s degree in American Indian Studies from Haskell Indian Nations University, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Oregon, and a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of Kansas.
